Dear TVR Members,

We know that some of you have expressed concerns about the increases this year for our TVR dinners and membership fees. Like so many organizations, our Tri-Valley Republicans Club has struggled financially since Covid and the rising inflation currently hitting all walks of our lives. After our budget review and research into other clubs, it became apparent that we had to initiate slight increases to these two income sources to offset rising costs for 2024. You may remember that an announcement was made at the December dinner, and also emailed to members prior to the January dinner, regarding price increases for dinners and membership renewals.

Last year, members paid $35 per dinner and non-members paid $40. Our costs were $39.08 per person (not including dessert, coffee, table decorations or speaker fee). In 2023 we lost more than $10 per person for each dinner we held. After the price increase in 2024, in April TVR made $3.50 and in May $1.71 per person including all of the above expenses.

As you can see, inflation is already reducing meal costs: $1.79 in one month. Aside from dinner costs, annual membership fees go toward the cost of good speakers, which can vary from $ 200 to $1,000 and have risen slightly due to gas and fee/expense for each. Our annual membership also covers special events such as member coffees, website maintenance and fees, and rising liability insurance.

If the economy improves and prices go down, we will be reviewing our budget income and expenses to determine if we can possibly reduce our dinner cost back to the prior levels.

We want to assure you that your board of directors work hard to provide you with the best possible venue for our dinner meetings, high quality speakers each month and an informative and interactive club website to provide you with the most complete information on political and other events.
