250 Years! What Can You Do?
Presidents’ Day is a good moment to pause and remember that this country didn’t begin as an idea on paper! It began with people who loved something more than comfort, who believed liberty was worth sacrifice, and who put their names on a cause they couldn’t take back.
This year carries extra weight. Our 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Between now and July 4, we have a real opportunity to reconnect our homes and communities with the principles that made America possible in the first place.
The best preparation is often the most ordinary kind—small, steady, and done on purpose.
Start preparing and make the celebration more meaningful:
Do one small thing each week until July 4. Read a short Founder story, share a quote at dinner, watch a brief video and talk about it for five minutes with family or friends.
Share one quote at dinner each week. Pick a character trait or principle and ask, “How could we practice it this week?”
Start a monthly “Founding Night.” Do it with your family, or invite friends over. Read a section of the Declaration together and discuss what stands out.
Host a small group conversation. Read a Founder story. Start the short discussion around their life and character then talk about what it teaches about liberty, responsibility, and self-government. Even just ONE one meaningful conversation can plant a seed that lasts a lifetime!
